See the Potential and Build the Confidence

When Cedric Thornton saw the athletic potential in his own kids there was a desire to spend the time with them to build them up, train with them, give them tools to pull out the very best in them. It's how Preparing Tomorrow's Athletes (PTA) started. He trained his athletes in his yard, more kids from the community joined in, and eventually Cedric opened a facility.

The core behind PTA is for each athlete to get the opportunity to work with seasoned professionals to reach their full potential. PTA's goal is to help athletes develop the confidence to perform at their best when it matters most.

Why does confidence matter? Let's break it down by definition.

  • the state of feeling certain about the truth of something

  • a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities

  • feeling sure of yourself and your abilities

There are different types of confidence, all of which can steer you toward a more healthy and successful life. Noeline Kirabo outlines four types of confidence as:

1. Social Confidence - including body language 2. Confidence In Your Expertise - trusting your skills 3. Physical Confidence - positive affirmations and working out 4. Confidence In Your Self-Worth - forgive and encourage yourself

PTA builds confidence in young athletes in all of these areas, from working on work ethic and mental toughness to physical workouts and training that improves their skills, speed, and strength on the field or court. It takes a good coach to spot the spark of potential in a young player and tap into it, build them up, and make them shine like never before.

This post clearly shows how confidence grows when young athletes are supported the right way, not just pushed to perform. When I was in school sports, I struggled with self-belief while balancing studies and used Economics Assignment Help during exam weeks so I could stay focused on training. Having that support made a real difference. It reminds me that confidence builds best when effort, guidance, and balance all come together.
